Monuments to V.I. Lenin. Ater V.I. Lenin's death Sovnarkom (The Soviet of People's Commissars) passed the resolution about the perpetuation his death. At first temporary monuments made of inexpensive materials (plaster of Paris, wood, concrete) were created by the local own strength in oblast towns. In the second half of the 1920s the standars of the leader's image, based on photographs and news-reel, was developed by the special Commission of the Central Executive Committee of the USSR. The bust made by M.Ya. Kharlamov, the sculpture figure made by V.V. Kozlov, the mask and bas-relief made by I.D. Shadr were recommended for repetition work. During the Great Patriotic War many monuments were destroyed or dismantled in the temporary occupied territory. In the 1950s the opening monuments and busts of Lenin became the official tradition. They were dated to anniversaries of the October Revolution and V.I. Lenin's birthdays. In the Leningrad Oblast monuments were erected in the town of Luga (1955, the sculptor Ye.G. Zakharov), in the town of Vyborg (1957, the sculptor Sh.V. Mikatadze, architects Yu.A. Dyakonov, A.I. Alymov), in the town of Volkhov (1965, the sculptor I.I. Rabin), in the town of Priozersk (1966, the sculptor P.M. Krivorutsky), in the town of Gatchina (1958, the sculptor V.I. Ingal), in the town of Slantsi (1958, the sculptor R.N. Budilov, the architect F.A. Gepner), in the town Boksitogorsk (1958), in the settlement of Ilyichovo (1957, sculptors A.I. Danilenko, A.G. Pliskin, V.I. Tatarovich, G.D. Yastrebenetsky) and others.
