Tolstoy, Aleksey Nikolayevich, Count (1882 - 1945), a writer, public figure, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1939). During 1901-1907 A.N. Tolstoy attended the St. Petersburg Institute of Technology but did not gaduated from it. In 1907 his first collection of poems "Lirika" ("Lyrics") was published. From 1918 Tolstoy lived abroad. He returned into Petrograd in August of 1923. In 1928 Tolstoy moved to Tsarskoye Selo. From 1938 Tolstoy lived in Moscow. A.N. Tolstoy is the author of novels: "Chudaki" (“The Eccentrics”, 1911), "Khromoy barin" (“The Lame Squire”, 1912), "Pokhozhdeniya Nevzorova, ili Ibikus" ("Adventures of Nevzorov or Ibikus", 1925), "Giperboloid inzhenera Garina" ("The Hyperboloid of the Engineer Garin", 1925-1927), "Pyotr I" ("Peter the First", 1929-1945), the trilogy of novels " Khozhdeniye po mukam" (consisting of "Sestry" ( “Sisters”), "Vosemnadtsaty god" (“The Year 1918”), and "Khmuroe utro" (“A Gloomy Morning”; 1921-1941), many narratives, stories, plays, publicistic articles. In summer of 1926 Tolstoy lived at Maryino, the former estate of the Golitsins, which was located nearby Andrianovo village of the Tosno District. In the summer of 1927 the writer and his family lived at the former country house of the merchant Voronin in Siverskaya (now it is the urban settlement of Siversky of the Gatchina District; Krasnaya Street). At the same year A.N. Tolstoy lived in Toksovo settlement in Karelian Isthmus (now it is the urban settlement Toksovo of the Vsevolozhsk District; 30 Turistov Street). Margolis, Aleksandr Davidovich
