Savkov, Vasily Mitrofanovich (1907-1978), an architect

Vasily Mitrofanovich Savkov (1907-1978), an architect- restorer, researcher of the Old Russian architecture. V.M. Savkov was a founder of the Leningrad school of architectural restoration. He jointly with E.V. Kazanskaya developed the project and led the restoration of the Grand Palace in Peterhof (1949-1974). V.M. Savkov was occupied with the restoration of Yusupovsky Palace on the River Moika Embankment, the Grand (Menshikov's) Palace in Lomonosov Town, Babolovsky Palace in Pushkin Town and others. From 1968 V.M. Savkov and A.N. Kirpichnikov did archeological dig and the repair and restoration works in the Shlisselburg Fortrress. Vasily Mitrofanovich Savkov was the author of the project of the fortress restoration as the museum - reserve.
