THE PRIOZERSK CENTRAL LIBRARY (20 Kalinin Street, Priozersk Town). The library was founded in 1945. In 1975 in the process of integration of the district libraries in the centralized library network it was given the status of central district library. Since 2006 it has got the status of inter-settlement library. In 1977 the library got a 3rd degree diploma of the USSR National Economy Achievement Exhibition (VDNKH). Its fund numbers over 50,000 items covering all areas of knowledge, including video cassettes and records. The library has 3,000 readers, with over 70,000 loans annually. In 2001 the library came forward with the initiative to found Priozersk District Nongovernmental Organization of former underage prisoners of the Nazi concentration camps. G. M. Ryazantseva, the library methodologist, compiled and published the book “Pamyat’ serdtsa” (The Memory out of the Heart) on the base of their memories (2002).
